Miranda Pratt, Operations Manager

Miranda is a Branson, Missouri native and University of Missouri graduate who joined the Humane Society Legislative Fund of the Midwest in 2018 after working at the third largest no-kill animal shelter in the United States. Miranda is an active member of the Youth Leadership Board for Great Plains SPCA animal shelter and Humane Society of the United States District Leader for her community. At HSLFMO, she oversees our day-to-day operations, major campaigns, special projects, and more. Outside of the office, you can find her teaching a painting class or cuddling with one of her three cats.

Steve Carroll, Lobbyist

After earning his combined law degree from Harvard University and the University of Missouri School of Law in 1989, Steve went on to establish Steven R. Carroll & Associates in 1994 and has since served as its acting President. Steve is a constant presence in the halls of the Missouri State Capitol and with over 25 years of experience as a lobbyist and legislature, Steve brings invaluable political and governmental experience to our team.

Chuck Laue

In 2016, Chuck founded the Humane Society Legislative Fund of the Midwest, which expanded to Missouri in 2018. Chuck currently serves as the Co-Founder and Chairman of Stray Dog Capital, a mission-driven investment firm. Chuck is also the Board Chair of Great Plains SPCA animal shelter in Merriam, Kansas. He is a Co-Founder and Board Director of The Quinn Foundation and Ringo's Fund, private foundations focused on charitable giving for animal welfare causes. In 2013, Chuck’s role in animal welfare expanded to the national level when he was named a board member for the Humane Society of the United States and shortly after, the Board Chair of the Humane Society Legislative Fund.

Jennifer Laue

Jennifer is co-founder of Stray Dog Capital and Quinn Capital, an insurance investment fund. Jennifer is a current board member of Companion Protect and Rawxies and co-founder of The Quinn Foundation and Ringo’s Fund, private foundations focused charitable giving for animal welfare causes. Jennifer is also a board member of Great Plains SPCA animal shelter in Merriam, Kansas , the Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault (MOCSA) and All About Autism. Jennifer loves to foster and provide advanced medical assistance to companion animals.

Amanda Good

Amanda has worked to advance animal protection legislation and expand a humane network all over the United States. She has nearly two decades of experience in campaign and policy work, taking on puppy mills, factory farming, captive hunting, and more. She also worked at as a large-animal veterinary technician and continues to help low-cost veterinary clinics in her region as a dedicated volunteer. She lives in Jefferson City with her husband Kevin and their three dogs, two cats, and three pot-bellied pigs.

Joe Maxwell

Joe Maxwell is a fourth generation farmer from Missouri. He has served his state as a state representative, state senator, and Lt. Governor. As a legislator, he passed many bills that supported value-added agriculture projects and programs for family farmers and their traditional animal husbandry practices while working against large-scale, multi-national industrialized farms. Today, as the Executive Director of the Organization for Competitive Markets and and President and Founder of Family Farm Action, Joe works to fight to keep markets open for family farmers and independent ranchers.

Lisa Feria

Lisa is a seasoned business manager with over 15 years of management-led experience. She is currently the CEO of Stray Dog Capital, a mission-driven investment firm. Lisa earned her MBA from the University of Chicago where she was voted “one of the 25 most influential MBA students,” and a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Lisa has always been heavily involved in the community – as a volunteer for SPCA and the United Way, and was recipient of one of the two ArtsWave awards given by the Procter & Gamble CEO. She enjoys a plant–based diet and lives in Kansas with her husband, two boys, and many dogs.

Brennan Tucker

Brennan is a seasoned lawyer with nearly two decades of experience. After practicing at Husch Blackwell LLP for 18 years, Brennan founded Tcuker GC, LLC, where he focuses on the representation of venture capital investors, entrepreneurs and privately held businesses. In addition to bringing valuable insight to HSLFMO, Brennan is Chariman of the Board for Hillcrest Transitional Housing, Inc. and Board Secretary for Great Plains SPCA animal shelter.
